Christmassy Spirit.

Hello Lovers, Happy Tuesday! Hope you are doing well, enjoying the Holiday Season with family and friends. I am currently in France, spending my first Christmas season abroad. I am a little sad that I won't be with Kyle's and my family, but it is really important to Kyle and I that we are together on Christmas.

With that said, my mission this December is to make our flat in Limoges feel just like home, making sure we keep up with some family holiday traditions. There are three boxes from the United States making their way to our place, filled with little things that will help us get into the Christmas Spirit. I have to say Limoges does do a great job of getting Kyle and I feeling Christmassy, their downtown is lit up like a winter wonderland, so beautiful.

While I was home in New York, I saved my Starbucks cups (Cleaning them of course.) and brought some back with me, along with a few pounds of their ground coffee. I thought it would make both Kyle and I feel like we weren't missing out on our beloved Starbucks, and the Christmas cups really make me smile.

As I always say, it really is the little things in life that can turn any ordinary day into an extraordinary day.

Enjoying our coffee.
It Feels good to be back to blogging, to be honest I needed a little break because my  T-Shirt shop has really taken off, which is a good thing but it took me away from my daily posts. If you would like to check out my shop which bears the same name as here click the link JeansTeesTravelCakes Skreened Shop .

I also run a monthly T-Shirt Giveaway on Instagram! So if you would like the chance to win a sweet tee of your choice follow me on IG @megmccarrick. December's Giveaway starts tomorrow!

Have an amazing day!

Make this moment count.

Happy Hump Day Beauties! It is a gorgeous day in Limoges, I could really get used to this weather but I'm not going to get my hopes up, as I am sure rain is in the near future, haha. I woke up this morning feeling paralyzed, I am so sore from the workout I did yesterday but I guess that means I worked my tush off. My sister and I are doing the 30 Day Body Rock Challenge from BodyRock.tv, yesterday was the Fit Test to see where you are at physically and man was it intense, even though it was only 12 minutes. I am pretty excited for the challenge and I know it is going to help me with my running as I now begin training for six upcoming races, and it will also be nice to have some sexy abs to rock this summer, but that's not what this is about, ha! Today's workout is a Body Rock Flow, which is right up my alley because it's Yoga which I love so much. If you want to join in the challenge visit BodyRock.tv, I will also be posting my results from each day's workout on Project Run.

I still can't get over the fact that it is May, this year has gone so fast. Kyle and I were just discussing how it seems like just yesterday that we were saying what would be the hardest goodbye back in August, when we would be separated for what seemed like the longest two months of our lives and in our relationship. That was a really challenging time for us but as we look back now we've realized that as hard as it was that it did indeed make our relationship so much stronger.

Life is a series of tests and I've learned that it is how you respond to those tests that make you who you are. Kyle and I could of easily thrown in the towel but we were determined, committed to passing any test tossed our way and making our relationship work. Now, as this year overseas is coming to a close, I can proudly smile and say that I've grown as individual and that our relationship has really cemented itself. Who knows where we will end up next year, but I know that we will pass any challenge given to us, we've become pro's at it.

Today I am going to share a quote with you, I found it on my favorite site Pinterest, I love the message and believe strongly in it. You can't be afraid to take chances, to live the life that you deserve for yourself. Like I've said earlier, life will throw you some challenges, I say, take on those challenges and you will succeed. Don't be afraid to fail, if you don't try you'll never know what could happen. Not in a million years did I ever think that I would be sitting in an apartment in France writing but in 2008 I took a chance, I fell in love with someone and taking a chance on love has changed my life forever. I knew the risks that were involved, not just the risk I was taking with my heart but I went for it, it hasn't been unicorns and rainbows but it has certainly made me a stronger and more confident. You'll see the more chances you take the more in control you will become of your life and it's destiny.

Take chances, take a lot of them. Because honestly, no matter where you end up or with whom, it always ends up just the way it should be. Your mistakes make you who you are. You learn and grow with each choice you make. Everything is worth it. Say how you feel, always. Be you, and be okay with it.

A Perfect Game and A Day Trip.

Happy Monday and Happy April Loves! I hope you ended March on a high note and are ready to tackle a new month, filled new goals and big smiles. I enjoyed a great weekend, one of the best I've had in awhile.

It all started on Friday as I watched something spectacular unfold before my eyes. Kyle and his team Limoges CSP had an away game in Evereux, which is right outside of Paris. I hate when I can't watch the games in person, I like to be there cheering on Kyle and his team, after what happened Friday night I was really bummed I didn't get to see the game live. I was home in our apartment in Limoges with Wooden watching the game and losing my mind as Kyle was having the "perfect" game, he was shooting 100%, which isn't a simple fete. I was on the edge of my seat after he hit shot after shot and breathed a sigh of relief as the game ended, Limoges won and Kyle had his perfect game, ending the night with 22 points. He shot 4/4 from the three point line, 4/4 from inside the arc and 2/2 from the free throw line, he also had 5 assists and nabbed 3 rebounds. I can't tell you how proud I am of Kyle and I know I'm not the only one, the outpouring of support from family, friends and CSP fans was phenomenal, everyone leaving kind words for Kyle and his amazing achievement.

This achievement however, doesn't surprise me. Kyle has been working his butt off to get to this point and it is very well deserved, I'm not just saying this because I happen to live with the guy. I'm saying it because I see day in and day out how hard he works and how focused he is on being the best player and professional he can be. I know there are still big things to come for Kyle and his career as a professional basketball player and it couldn't be more deserving. Below is a awesome clip that the CSP organization released of Kyle's perfect game, check it out it's really cool.

After Kyle's success Friday night it made our day trip to Bordeaux even more desirable, we needed to celebrate. As I mentioned on Friday in my vlog, which you can check it out here (VLOG) if you missed it, I was quite nervous as this would be Wooden's first trip. Well, he blew Kyle and I away with how good he was, from the 2-1/2 hour car ride where he mainly looked out the window, to how he took over the city of Bordeaux like a seasoned traveler. His good behavior made the day even better. The weather was perfect in the city and we had such a great day, exploring, enjoying an amazing lunch and a sweet treat while we walked the streets.

Bordeaux is definitely one of my favorite places in France. The city has such a great vibe, it reminds me so much of Chicago. The weekend was a total success, I feel very blessed to be able to experience all these amazing things, which become even more amazing when I have my guy by my side and my dog at my feet. For a while I felt like a wanderer, traveling and living in different countries, in different cities, it used to be a scary feeling, not knowing what to call home, I felt lost. But now I am learning that not all who wander are lost, you can make a home anywhere, and it's crazy to think that Kyle and I managed to make a home in France, where we barely speak the language but it's all about making the best of your situation and having your best friend by your side does make the everyday challenges a lot easier.

Happy Tuesday Beauties, it's another warm and humid day in New York City, I thought it's fall, where is the cool, crisp weather? I want to wear my sweaters and boots. Have a wonderful day, step out of your comfort zone today.

Yesterday I put in for my last day at work, which made me moving over to France feel even more real. It was sad to make my schedule, highlighting my last day but I know a new adventure awaits. I have to thank Abercrombie and Fitch 5th Avenue for being so amazing to me over the past years, they've supported me through some very hectic times, not many people can say that about their place of work.

I know it's only Tuesday but I am really looking forward to the weekend. On Saturday, I am taking the train up to Boston where my sister is picking me up and taking me to her new house in Maine. I'm looking forward to this mini vacation , spending some quality time with my sister and nephews, enjoying the crispy New England weather and hopefully some of my sister's amazing baked goods. So come on weekend, get here already!

Good Luck and Thanks for Your Support!

Today's quote comes from Hugh Laurie's character, Dr, Gregory House from the television show, House. I didn't hear this quote on the show, I saw it as a quote my sister posted on her Pinterest, under her "Words to Live By" board and I fell in love with it.

I believe in dreaming big, taking risks, following your heart and taking the less traveled path. I also believe you should be humble during the process, you can't take yourself to seriously or you'll never get out alive. You have to accept that they'll be up and downs but if you go into every one of life's challenges with a smile on your face and a sense of humor, life won't seem all the bad. Let go and live.

Enjoy!

If you aren't willing to look stupid, nothing great is ever going to happen to you.

Trust your gut.

Hey there Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes Readers, here's to a delightful Monday! How was your weekend? I hope you had a great one, filled with a new adventure or two. I had an awesomely productive weekend and got a ton of stuff done, only 26 days until I'm off to France, I have to get cracking on a lot of things.

The major project this weekend was finding a dress for Kyle's brother's wedding. Well, after searching high and low, trying on dress after dress, I still haven't found one I'm in love with. I'm seriously running out of time, it's 13 days away, nothing like waiting until the last minute.

I may not have found a dress but I did find a lot of other great clothes to take with me to France. I've been buying more blacks, skirts,  boots and flats, I'm going to try and pull off the whole "Parisian Chic" thing. We'll see how that goes!
I also finally set up my Etsy shop this weekend! Now you can purchase some of my quotable creations. I hope you check the site out, maybe something will catch your eye. If there is a quote that you'd like me to make up for you, just send me the desired quote and I'll send you the creation!

But by far the biggest highlight of the weekend came early this morning. My Manfriend sent a deposit to a dog breeder to secure us a little boy puppy from a new litter of English Golden Retrievers! The breeder is in France and the Manfriend has been communicating back and forth with them over the past two weeks. I can't tell you how exited the both of us are to get the little guy, we're huge dog lovers and our new pup will be the perfect companion overseas and when he's old enough he'll be my running buddy. Now I really can't wait to get over to France. I'll reveal the name once we pick him up, but I'm sure a lot of you guys could figure it out knowing the Manfriend and my history.

There are five days to go in the Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes First Birthday Giveaway! Check out the link below and comment away, entering yourself the chance to win a Longchamp tote bag which sells for $145. The giveaway ends this Friday, September 30th at 12 noon (est).

Good Luck to all of you and you are amazing me with all your comments!

Today's quote comes from the television show, Grey's Anatomy. This show is chock full of amazing quotes and this one caught my attention recently. I am a big believer in trusting and following your heart. Your heart or others may call it your gut, knows what is right for you. So trust it, go with it, follow your heart song, it may take you to places you've only dreamed of.

Enjoy!

No matter how high the stakes, sooner or later you're just gonna have to go with your gut. And maybe, just maybe, that will take you right where you were supposed to be.

Be Kind.

Thank god it's Friday, TGIF!!! Even though the weather is quite dreary here in New York City, I'm not bothered because I know the weekend is approaching. Have a great weekend lovers, make it a productive one as always, tackle something and spend some time doing something you love doing.

Last night I enjoy a yummy dinner at my brother and sister-in-law's apartment, I love it there, especially since I get to hang out with the cutest two month old I know, William Beckett. After dinner I headed back to my place just in time to watch, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, this show is hilarious and I was laughing from beginning to end. Also there is something about Charlie Day's character, Charlie that I just love, maybe it's the scruff.

One week left in the Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes First Birthday Giveaway! Click on the link below and comment, entering to win a Longchamp tote bag which sells for $145! I have to say there are already tons of comments, I can't imagine how many there will be by next Friday. Don't miss your chance to win this classic fashion staple.

Good Luck!

Today's quote comes from American author, Og Mandino. This is such an amazingly. strong quote and I will try and take these words and live by them. I know I find myself guilty of judging others at times, this is a habit I am looking to break. You should never judge someone when you have no idea what their situation in life is. Plato said, "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." He couldn't be more right, we all know life isn't always easy and some people have it a lot worse then others. So the next time you have a negative thought about someones actions, think for a second, "Maybe they are fighting their own battle."

I've learned that when you practice being a genuine good person, it has the power of making someones day. It could be as simple as smiling at someone, or holding the door open for someone. They may not say, "thank you" or smile back, that's ok. Life isn't about getting a pat on your back from others saying, "Hey, you're such a good person." The reward is a feeling you share with yourself, deep down inside your heart, knowing that you are being the best you.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Beginning today, treat everyone you meet as if they were going to be dead by midnight. Extend to them all the care, kindness and understanding you can muster and do it with no thought of any reward. Your life will never be the same again.
-Og Mandino

Soul Mate.

Happy Hump Day friends, make it a great one! I have to say I was overwhelmed by the love and well wishes I received yesterday from friends and family as Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes celebrated its first birthday. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people.

Don't forget to check out the Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes First Birthday Giveaway. Comment on the post and you'll be entered to win a Longchamp tote bag which sells for $145!!! There's a week and a half left to go in the giveaway, so don't miss out.
Click the link below and comment away.
Good Luck!

Today's quote is from an unknown author, it's one of those quotes that made me smile from ear to ear after reading, because I know I have felt this way about someone. I'm not sure if I 100% believe in soul mates, sometimes I think it's more like chance, that two people meet, the right place, right time sort of thing.

When I met my manfriend, I wasn't looking for him and I sure as hell know he wasn't looking for me. But deep down in the depths of my heart, hidden under the cob webs and cracks, he was there. He was a man I dreamed of, a guy that had what I was looking for in a counterpart, all the facets that would balance me and make us whole.

Sounds a little crazy but I believe that each of us has our idea of this perfect man or woman, that's going to come along, sweep us off our feet, and make your heart feel in ways you never knew existed. I was lucky enough to have the man that I dreamed of, come along during my 22nd year here on this planet, when I met him I knew my life would change in that forever kind of way. Sometimes it's scary to think that I've found the person that I want to spend the rest of my days with but more importantly, it's pretty freaking exciting.

Enjoy!

And then my soul saw you and went, "Oh there you are, I've been looking for you."

The giveaway started yesterday, September 19th and runs until, Friday September 30th, so make sure you check out the link below and comment on the post to enter the giveaway.

Good luck and thank you for all the love over this past year.

Today's quote comes from one of my top three favorite romantic comedies of all time, The Holiday. I could watch this movie every night for a year and not get sick of it. I thought this quote was fitting for Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes first birthday, and I wanted to share it with you .

This blog has taught me so much about myself and I continue to learn more and more everyday. I've learned to be more of a risk taker, I've learned to take more chances, even if I don't succeed, I've learned to laugh more at myself, to worry less and less.  To set more goals and higher standards for myself. I want to become the best me and I know I am the only one who controls that outcome.

I hope that this blog has helped you realize that you deserve the best in this life. I hope you challenge yourself to be your best self. Never take a backseat in your own life. It's your life to live, so live it. Be bold, be brave, go after your biggest dreams and chance down your biggest fears.

Thanks and I love you all.

Enjoy!

You're supposed to be the leading lady in your own life.
-Iris, The Holiday

(For all my male readers, you deserve to be the leading man in your own life as well.)

Quote of the day.

What an amazing holiday weekend I'm having, I hope you are having a great one as well. It's a rainy day in New York City, but that's not going to stop me from having a productive day. I'm thinking maybe I'll bake something today and work on our office space in the apartment. (This is a must now.)

Yesterday, I met with the owner of the salon with the yoga studio attached, we talked about the possibility of me running my yoga practice out of that studio. The meeting went so well and I am excited about my future there. I will definitely keep you posted, big things are about to happen. I have to thank my friend Noel, for setting me up with this interview, I'm forever grateful!

William Watch 2011:Day 19! Finally, we will be meeting William very shortly either today or tomorrow. Mom-to-be Lia is going to  the hospital today to be induced. I wish my brother and sister-in-law nothing but the best of luck on this amazing journey ahead of  them, and I am so excited that I will see little Will within the next day. Wahoo!

Sunday's quote comes from American writer, Orison Swett Marden. I love this quote and I am learning more and more to think and act this way. We are going to face obstacles in our lives, it's normal, that's life. We just have to learn not to stress these obstacles, these challenges, these brick walls. Break through them and you'll see they weren't that challenging to begin with.

Enjoy!

Most obstacles melt away when we make up our minds to walk boldly through them.
