Happy Monday Lovers, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. The sun was actually out in Limoges this weekend, which made me one happy girl. Kyle and I took advantage of the nice weather, getting out of the apartment and heading downtown. This was an exciting trip downtown because we took Wooden along with us, so far we've only taken him to the local park and for walks around the block but we felt it was time for him to get used to city life. He loved walking through the city streets, getting the attention of every passerby, I have to say, he is quite the looker. He had fun chasing a slew of pigeons, which was also very entertaining. I can't wait until we are back in the States where Kyle and I can take Wooden into Manhattan, and show him the lifestyle we both love so much.

I'm really looking forward to the weeks ahead, Kyle and his team aren't on the road for awhile, so it will be nice to have him home, we are also having visitors! Kyle's parents get here on Saturday, it's going to be a nice change of pace having family around. Kyle and I are also trying to figure out what to do for Valentine's Day, he has a few days off so that means,time for some traveling! I'm pretty sure we will head up to Paris, it is the city of love you know. (I'm so corny, I'm sorry.) So we have a lot going on, but that's a great feeling, sometimes the days can drag here because we have a lot of down time, so I'm more than happy to be busy.

Today's quote is actually one I need to read on a daily basis. I, Meggie am of constant worrier, I stress a little more than most and it's something I need to change. Yesterday on our daily after dinner walk Kyle said to me, "For a yoga instructor, someone who calms everyone else down, you really do worry a lot." I had to laugh but the more I thought about it, I realized he was indeed right. For someone who practices and teaches yoga, I do worry quite a bit. How do I change this?

When I came across this quote on Pinterest, I said to myself, "you need to tattoo this on your hand so you can carry it with you always." Instead of getting a tattoo because I think the six I have are enough, I thought I'd share this quote on here and I can come back and read it whenever I feel myself slipping into worry mode. It's from an Unknown Author and I think we all can use this quote every now and then. We need to believe in ourselves and in our own personal journey, wasting time worrying isn't going to get us ahead in life. So worry less, believe in yourself and trust the process.

Hey there Loves, Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was a great one, I know it was for my fellow New Yorkers as our beloved New York Football Giants will be making their way to the Superbowl, how very exciting! Because of the time difference Kyle and I couldn't watch the game, so it was a really nice surprise when we woke up to see that the Giants were victorious, it's the little things like a football team winning a game that can make you feel closer to home and proud to be (for us at least) New Yorkers.

Today is a special day in my life, it's my brother Brendan's birthday. Now if you grew up with Brendan and I you would know one thing, we used to fight like cats and dogs on a daily routine, my poor sister and parents (haha). I felt like he thought I was always his 12 year old little sister and he thought I was always his 12 year old little sister, you could now understand the battle. We annoyed each other, picked on each other and were just plain mean to each other at times, oh sibling love! However, over this past year, my relationship with my brother drastically changed. I think it began when we started commuting into Manhattan together, everyday we learned a little more about each other and who we really were, for example he knew I needed to be off the first one off the ferry in the morning and I knew that pissed him off (haha). 


We both experienced big things over the last year as well, we both moved. He moved across the country to Portland, Oregon and then back to New York, while I moved to Greece, then moved out of my parents house in New York and then to France. I think over that time, our respect for each other grew tremendously. This past summer when we both moved back to New York and found ourselves commuting into Manhattan together again it was very comforting, a routine I believe we both missed, which as I sit here in France I can say I miss terribly and look forward to doing it again in the future. 


I am extremely proud of the man my brother has become, in this last year alone he got a huge position at a company, which was the reason he moved back to New York and he also became a father, an amazing one at that. I can't tell you how many people after seeing Brendan with his son say to me, "He's a great dad, I hope I can be that way when I have kids." That's something he should be extremely proud of, I know I am. 


Maybe it took me 26 years to realize how great a guy my brother is and maybe it took him 32 years to realize that I may be his kid sister but I'm not a baby anymore. No matter how long it took, I'm happy we are at the place we are today, sharing commutes, Sunday Brunches and random weeknight dinners. I'm also so lucky that he chose an amazing woman to be his wife, who I look to as another big sister and feel so lucky and blessed to have in my life. So happy birthday Brendo, have an amazing day and Starbucks is on me when I get home. Love you!

As of late, the manfriend and I have been talking a lot about the future and our plans. This can get a bit challenging because just like myself, my guy has many interests, so when it comes to deciding what to really focus on, it can get a little hazy. We know the life we are living now isn't going to last forever, so it is important that we have a "plan". Part of me believes in plans, while the pessimist inside says, "No matter how many plans you make, you really can't predict the future and what is to come." I do know one thing is for sure, the day our feet are settled on American soil will be a day I will treasure forever. 

Now let me be clear when I say, I do not hate Europe, Kyle and I have had the chance to experience and are still experiencing so many amazing things, to be able to see the world has always been a dream of mine and we are getting the chance to do that. However, at the end of the day Europe isn't home. For two people who are complete homebodies, I have to say I am so proud of us and what we are doing. I know Kyle wants a life in the States as well, so it is a constant conversation we have. Where do you want to settle down, what are our options, what would make you most happy. 

That's where today's quote comes in, I'm telling you there really is a quote for everything you are going through in life. I found this quote while reading Bethenny Frankel's, A Place of Yes, which is an absolute must read. This quote is about life and how it can be a complete mystery but that can't stop you from living it. You are never going to fully know the outcome but you can't be afraid to get in there and try. What's the worst that can happen, you fail, maybe or you might find exactly where you belong. I know Kyle and I have to stop worrying as much as we do about the future and trust our guts and mainly our hearts which have led us on one amazing journey thus far. We need to realize that we are in this together, which makes the scariness fade away knowing that we are never going into something alone. Life can get bumpy but you just have to trust the process.

Hey there my beautiful Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes readers, Happy Thursday! It's a rainy day here in Limoges, France but that doesn't mean I plan on being lazy. Right now I'm enjoying one of my itunes playlists, really, really enjoying this delicious cup of coffee in my hand and laughing as Wooden snores, I have to say for a puppy he sure does sleep a lot. I'm going to get in a yoga/tabata workout today, I plan on kicking my own ass and getting it in gear for April 15th, the Paris Marathon. January 19th is a very special day, it is my mother's birthday and also my aunt's birthday (my mom's sister). It's days like this that I hate being over here, or away in general from the people I love. I wish I was there to celebrate but since I am not, I am sending so much love their way. I love you mom! Thank you for being such an amazing person in my life, you are the glue that holds me together at times and I couldn't be more grateful.  I can't wait to celebrate with you when I get home, some champagne is in order. My aunt Gail is also an amazing woman in my life, I don't know what I would do without her and my mother for their continued support in all that I do and their always comforting words of wisdom.  I love you both and happy, happy birthday.

Yesterday the manfriend and I were talking about the Chicago Marathon, I remembered that even though I didn't run my best marathon there, I did enjoy the course and would love to do it again. I immediately  checked out the Chicago Marathon website and saw that registration for the race begins February 1st and I plan on being one of the first to sign up for the October 7th race. All is took was a trip down memory lane to set a new goal, because why not? This is my life and I should try and fill it with as many cool experiences as possible. That is all I wish for you too! Happy Thursday Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes readers, it's a rainy day here in New York City. This week is flying by and it's crazy because tomorrow is officially my last day at work, it's going to be such a bittersweet day at Abercrombie and Fitch 5th Avenue, I grew up in that building and I've made so many great memories. But with every ending comes a new beginning, a new chapter to start on my journey, and I'm excited to embark on the next phase.

I spent last night helping my cousin Sam work on her college essay, you may remember Sammy from her guest posts on, Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes. (I hope she'll post again!) I still can't believe she is going to be entering college next year. She is an amazingly talented young woman, I am so proud of her and consider her the little sister I've always wished I had. She has been faced with a lot of adversity over the last three years and has remained so grounded, this speaks volumes of her character. I know she is capable of achieving any goal and dream she sets for herself, and I love to be on the sidelines watching her story unfold. Love you Sam!

This morning the man friend and I received another puppy update. Let me just tell you how excited I get for these updates. I hound my poor guy, asking him constantly if he has received and new emails containing puppy pictures. Well this am I got my dose of puppy love. Our little guy is doing well and growing so quickly at just two and a half weeks old. By the way we had second thoughts about the little dudes name and now have a new one, we can be very indecisive as a couple sometimes.

Today's quote is from  one of my favorite actors, Christian Bale. This quote is a great on about being fearless.  It doesn't need much explanation, except that we all have fears, it's what we choose to do with these fears that will help us become the person we are looking to become. Happy Hump Day Beauties! Make it a terrific day, do something extraordinary. I am officially in moving mode, which is exciting and nerve racking at the same time. Last night, I mapped out the next week and a half, organizing my days so I get everything I need accomplished done before my hop over the pond.

To make things a little more hectic, I've decided that I am going to run the Brooklyn Rock and Roll 10k with the team I am coaching. The race is actually on the day I leave for France. I figured it will tire me out for the seven hour flight ahead of me and since it's the inaugural Rock and Roll 10k in Brooklyn, I didn't want to miss out. So we will see how that works out for me.

Today's quote comes from my favorite classic, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. I don't know how many times I've read this book, but it never gets old, I love it's message and it rings very true to what is going on in the world today. I don't usually blog about politics or religion because I don't think you guys should have to sit here and read my opinions on the state of the world, this is a lifestyle blog where you can come to find a little piece of mind or motivation from the hundreds of quotes I post. But I will say that I do strongly believe that people, no matter what creed, race, sex , gay, straight, transgender, the richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor, should be treated equally.

I've been extremely disheartened lately by images I've seen on the news of utter hate for one another. I thought we've moved on from discrimination and hate with or movement for change in the 1960's but that is clearly not the case these days. This is one of the few times I will state my opinion when I say, the next time you judge someone, remember they are human just like you, no one is perfect, everyone has flaws, no two people think identically and you shouldn't hate on people if they don't believe or are into the same exact lifestyle as you. 

Go out, be good and don't judge, you have no clue what some one's circumstance is.  If you do this you'll be able to breathe easy every night when you hit your pillow.

Hey Loves, happy Tuesday, make it a great one ! I hope you had a fantastic holiday weekend, and spent some time doing the things you love. I can't believe I'm only twelve days away from beginning my next adventure, heading over the Limoges to live for the greater part of two years. I have so much to do this next week and a half, like finding a good shipping company to ship some of my stuff over there, nothing like waiting until the last minute.

I am a little sad, this is my last week of work. Abercrombie and Fitch has been nothing short of amazing, letting me come and go, back and forth. I am so grateful to be part of such a great company and I am going to miss my awesome co-workers and my desk very much over the next few months.

Sunday, was an amazing day, it was Kyle's brother Ryan's Wedding. It was such a beautiful day, filled with so much happiness. The bride, Tara,  looked stunning in her gorgeous gown. They had perfect weather, pretty warm for October. The church ceremony was simple and sweet and the reception was a ton of fun, and don't get me started on how amazing the food was, I was in foodie heaven. Again, I wish Ryan and Tara all the best and much love. Congratulations!

Yesterday I was off due to the holiday and the wedding the previous night. I spent the day running errands, doing some shopping and getting my apartment organized. Throughout the day I was entertained by Pandora radio via my iPhone and I was telling my manfriend how well Pandora knows me, it seemed that song after song were songs I love.  It's kind of freaky! Anyway, a Regina Spektor song came on called, On the Radio, I used to listen to Regina and this song constantly and thought the lyrics of this song would be perfect for today's quote.

Life as complicated as it can seem at times, is a pretty simple formula. We are on our own personal timeline, trying to figure out the perfect path, learning more and more everyday who we are and we take that and work on ourselves to become even better then our present self. There are ups and downs, tears and laughs, excitement and fears. Through it all we are moving forward, even if at times we wish we could freeze a moment or go back in time and redo something, we can't. The one true constant in life is time, it's always moving, challenging us to get the things we desire most accomplished, because eventually that time on your line will fade.

Hey there, my beautiful Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes readers, happy Friday! This week flew by, I hope you have a fantastic weekend and like I always say do something special for yourself, you above anybody else deserves it.

This weekend is a special one, Kyle's brother Ryan and his long time girlfriend Tara are getting married. I can't wait for the festivities to begin, starting with the lovely rehearsal dinner tonight. It's going to be an amazing weekend and the weather looks perfect. I'll be sure to share some pictures with you guys on Monday. I wish the Bride and Groom nothing but happiness on their journey together. Marriage is one of the most beautiful things on the planet and I know they got lucky and found their perfect counterparts. Congrats Ryan and Tara!

Last night while in my apartment, going through my clothes, getting ready for what I'm about to embark on in two weeks, I got to thinking which I often do to much of. I was thinking about my life, the good, the very good, the bad and the ugly. I was thinking about where I've been, where I am and where I am going. I guess it's good to do this from time to time, evaluate your life to see where you might need to make a tweak or two but for the first time in a long time I feel very confident about where I am in my life.

Of course there is always room for improvements but now and then you have to stop and take in the moment. I'm about to move to France, yikes! Never in my wildest dreams would I think this would be my life and as much as it scares me to pick up and leave my home, travel to a foreign land where I do not know the language, I'm actually pretty excited. This is one of those once in a lifetime opportunities and I can't pass it up. It does help that I'm going to be with my best friend and that we can experience this amazing journey together.

The point I'm trying to make is, when you are young you picture your life, ten, twenty years ahead, a perfect timeline of how your life will unfold. But life isn't perfect, there is no straight path, it gets bumpy, life literally gets in the way of your stellar plans. My advice is and always will be to enjoy the ride, accept challenges that come your way, set goals and conquer them. You'll surprise yourself when you see your personal journey unfold into something better then you've ever imagined.

Happy Thursday Lovers, make it a great one. Sorry for not posting yesterday, it was a travel day for me. I spent a large quantity of the day on  the Amtrak Regional, heading home from Maine to New York. It was a lovely ride, enjoying the beautiful New England scenery. I was telling my manfriend that this summer I would love to take another trip up to my sister's, stopping and all the quaint New England towns along the way.

I have to thank my sister Becky, my brother-in-law Chris and my nephews Jack and Benjamin, for being such amazing hosts to me while I was visiting them. I actually didn't want to leave and got a little sad when I entered the train station, knowing I will not see them in person until Christmas. I love spending time with them and I hope one day in the future we will not live so far apart so I can enjoy their company of a regular basis, until then we'll Skype.

Now that I am back in New York, it is back to business and man do I have a lot going on. I leave for  France in 16 days and I have so much to do, I also have a lot of engagements which gives me very little time to get organized. But I am not going to stress, here are so many great things going on in my life, I have to trust the process, I'm learning to stress less and enjoy life a little more.

The manfriend and I received a puppy update. Our puppy is now a week and a half old and doing great. We thought we had a name picked out and now it seems we are having a change of heart. We've now narrowed it down to four names, and I am thinking once we see the pup the name will just come to us. If you have any name suggestions, please feel free to leave your comments below.

On a more sad note, last night we lost a visionary, an extremely talented individual who lost his long battle with pancreatic cancer, rest in peace Apple Founder,  Steve Jobs. I am what you would call an Apple addict, I am hooked on Mac products and I believe President Obama put it best when he said last night, "The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented."

So to pay tribute to Steve, today's quote comes from him. This quote comes from a commencement speech he gave at Stanford University in 2005. I watch his speech every now and then to motivate me to go out there and be what I believe I can be. You may find this speech very similar to that of Randy Pausch's, Last Lecture. Maybe these great thoughts come to oneself when one is shown that they are not invincible, that one day your time will indeed expire.

What I learned from Jobs is that you shouldn't limit yourself, you shouldn't worry what others think of you and you should go after every dream and goal you have for yourself. This is your one life, this isn't a dress rehearsal, there are no do overs.  Go out and be great, don't settle for good.

Happy Tuesday Beauties, it's a rainy day here in Maine. I'm enjoying some yummy coffee with my sister and catching up on the latest episode of Pan Am, I really love this show. Hope you have a great day loves, make it a fabulous one.

Yesterday, my sister and I enjoyed a nice day of shopping and dining out. We explored the town of Portsmouth, which is adorably quaint. There were so many cute shops, and I didn't leave empty handed, I picked up a really cute dress. We also enjoyed some brunch at a great spot called, Colby's. After Portsmouth, we headed to Kittery, where we shopped some of the awesome Outlet stores, I love bargain shopping. Picture to come!

Today' we are going to bake and cook and bake some more. Perfect for a rainy day. I am really enjoying my time up here, and I am being honest when I say, I'm sad that I have to head home tomorrow.

Happy National Coffee Day!

I love Thursday, make it a great one loves. Happy National Coffee Day, one of my favorite days of the year, I will celebrate with a Pumpkin Spice Latte! The weather is still pretty humid and crappy here in New York City, like I said earlier this week, I'm ready for some cooler weather.

When I got home yesterday I had a package from my very thoughtful Manfriend, he sent me a book for bloggers called, Blogging for Bliss. It's such a sweet book and it has so many helpful tips on how to improve your blog. I've been planning a Jeans and Tees and Travel and Cakes revamp and now I think it's going to come sooner then later.

Last night I took a trip to PetSmart and picked up some puppy stuff to send over to Kyle. I actually got nervous while picking out the right supplies, reading everything carefully. As I've told my Manfriend, I don't need my dog turning out like Marley from, Marley and Me, haha.

In honor of National Coffee Day, today's quote comes the old Starbucks "The Way I See It" cups. I've used a "The Way I See It" cup quote before and I wish Starbucks would bring this back, what a great way to start your day, a fresh cup of coffee and an inspiring quote. Bring it back Starbucks!

Anyway, this quote on a cup is from Ultramarathon Runner, Dean Karnazes. He's is one of my running idols, who I had the privilege of meeting him last October at the Chicago Marathon. This is one inspirational quote and I have to share it with you.

Exhaust Yourself.

Hey Lovers, happy Wednesday! I hope you guys are having a great week.

Yesterday the Manfriend and I received some great news, our little pup was born, he's one of eight healthy and happy English Golden Retrievers. Our puppy will be ready to go home in a couple of weeks. The Manfriend is already puppy proofing our Limoges apartment. It's crazy knowing there is something living out there that we own and will soon be a major part of our lives. So now I have two countdowns, one until I see the Manfriend and one for ****'s arrival. I don't want to reveal the name just yet.

Now I need my lovely readers opinion about my haircut on Thursday. Should I get bangs or shouldn't I? I go back and forth and right now I'm up in the air about it, bangs can be a lot of work but I think they make me look older, then the 18 year old people accuse me of being. So what do you think? Bangs? No bangs? Below I posted a picture of how I want them cut, if I do indeed bring back the bangs. What do you think?

Yesterday the manfriend and I were talking about all the things we want to do in life, some short term and long term goals, some places we'd love to visit, some things we'd like to try to help us become the best versions of ourselves.

You were put on this planet to live, so take advantage of that opportunity. As long as you have air in your lungs, you should try and better yourself. And it's not about the money in your bank account, it's about the experiences you can take with you along your journey. Like I say all the time, make your story and interesting one.
