Quote of the day + A Tune.

Yay, it's Friday! So excited to get this weekend started, so much going on. I've been awake since 4am because of jet lag, which is never pleasant. I picked up the keys to my manfriend's and my new apartment, I finally got to see it in person and I fell in love. This place is so homey and the location is amazing, we are literally looking out onto a cute lake. Now it's time to move in and make this apartment our home.

Today's quote comes from one of my favorite ladies Audrey Hepburn. This quote is amazing, it's about helping yourself and helping others. If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I am a strong believer in helping others if you are able. Gosh I love this quote.

Enjoy!

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm. As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others. - Audrey Hepburn

Because it is my favorite time of year with St. Patrick's Day right around the corner and that this weekend is the Staten Island St. Patty's Day parade, I thought I'd share this lovely Irish tune. This is probably my favorite Irish song, Galway Girl by Steve Earle.

The Most Famous Waffle Iron In Town.

Yesterday my manfriend who knows I'm a Nike junkie and love the history of the brand, sent an article my way from Newser. The family of Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman discovered the original waffle iron that inspired the first pair of Nike sneakers.
The Waffle Iron.
The iron was buried on the property of the late Bill Bowerman, his family gave the relic to Nike. For Nike this is their most prized possession, because this iron is where it all started, the birth of a shoe empire.

The story is that one day while Bill's wife was using the waffle iron for breakfast, they were talking about how to make running shoes lighter and faster. As one of the waffles came out, Bill said, " You know, by turning it upside down-where the waffle part would come in contact with the track- I think that might work."

This sparked an idea and Bowerman used the now infamous waffle iron to test his theory, and he was rather successful.

I love history like this, seeing where something so big such as Nike was born.

Quote of the day.

Happy Thursday, it's great to be back in New York, I've really missed this great city. My cousin and I had a ridiculously long day of travel, I'm so glad I don't have to be in an airport or on a plane for a few weeks. Today starts a very busy weekend, I get into Kyle and my new apartment which I am so excited to see. Then my brother and sister-in-law get in from Oregon later this afternoon. We have my sister-in-law's baby shower this weekend, my nephew Ben's 2nd birthday party and of course the Staten Island St. Patty's Day Parade, all while moving into my apartment. I'm going to enjoy every minute of it.

Today's quote comes from the movie, Love and Other Drugs. I was finally able to see this movie on my flight yesterday and I loved it. Jake Gyllenhaal is probably one of the hottest guys on the planet so he was definitely nice to look at while I was high in the sky. The movie was great and I found one of the lines fabulous, it's from Jake's character Jamie. It's kind of lovey dovey and I dig it, it's about life and how one person can change your life in an instant. I can relate to this quote very much and I'm happy to say that right now, life is good.

Sometimes the things you want the most don't happen and what you least expect happens. I don't know - you meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet that one person and your life is changed.

Quote of the day.

Happy Wednesday Loves,I'm in Heathrow Airport enjoying a nice, long layover waiting to get back to New York. I hope everyone has a great day, I can't believe I'll be home in a few hours, I have so much going on my mind is going crazy but it is definitely a lot to look forward to. Moving into an apartment, getting back to work and a bunch of parties this weekend, I will definitely be busy.

Today's quote is from an unknown author and I love it. I have a tendency to worry about every little thing, I always think the worst instead of just going with the flow, this is something I'm trying to fix. Hopefully one day my mind will be worry free.

Enjoy.

Worry is pulling tomorrow's clouds over today's sunshine.

Baby You're a Firework...PS 22 Chorus.

These kids are enjoying the ride of their lives. The PS 22 Chorus of Staten Island who performed at the Academy Awards on Sunday, hung out with Oprah yesterday and got the chance to sing with Katy Perry.

I can't express enough through this blog how freaking proud I am of these 5th graders. I may possibly be their biggest fan, haha. You guys are making Staten Island so proud.

Here they are singing with Katy Perry, singing Firework.
It was fantastic.
Enjoy!

Quote of the day + A Tune.

Happy Tuesday Beauties, I can't believe it's my last day in Greece. I remember leaving New York right after Christmas like it was yesterday, the time has flown by. There is so much to look forward to back home such as the new apartment, getting back to work, being able to see my family and of course hanging out with my Cobi Boy (my dog). I do hate leaving my guy over here though, he has two months left here in Athens, I will be back in April but bottom line is I hate time away from him, I must focus and keep myself busy the next month, so March please be kind.

On that note, I can't freaking believe it's March, I feel like we powered through those winter months. I have gained a new respect for all my family in friends living in the Tri-State area who got slammed with snow storm after snow storm, just know spring is right around the corner.

Today's quote is from the movie, The Last Kiss. It's a great movie which deals with very real topics people face when in a relationship, some of the scenes made me cringe because I hate anything involving drama. This quote can relate to many things, a relationship, a dream or a goal, it's basically telling us to never give up or lose hope. If you want something badly enough keep trying and eventually you'll succeed.

Well it's very simple... do whatever it takes. You can't fail if you don't give up.
-The Last Kiss

Because Spring is just around the corner, I had to include this song. Every time I hear it I think of the first warm day after a long winter, I think of New York City coming back to life after some hibernating. This is definitely up there on my list of favorite songs, I hope you enjoy this great tune.
