Quote of the day.

Happy Saturday Lovers. I was in rare form this morning, going on ridiculous cleaning rampage and the poor manfriend had to hear me rant about how our floors never look clean. I needed to de-stress so after a nice shower, I surfed the web looking at apartment stuff for our new place back in New York, that made me feel so much better.

Today should be fun, my guy has a home game in Glyfada and afterwards we'll grab some yummy eats at one of our favorite spots. I hope everyone has a relaxing, enjoyable and productive weekend.

I haven't used an Elizabeth Gilbert quote in awhile and felt it was time for one. The quote is from, Eat Pray Love, a book every woman should take the time and read.  This quote is fabulous, it takes about how there are so many things in life that are out of our control but there are others that we can control. Live life positively and go in the direction of ones goals and dreams.

Enjoy!

There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I'm going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.

Crepe-tastic.

Yesterday something rare happened, I said "NO" to Starbucks. I didn't really want to say no, but it was pouring outside and I just didn't feel like braving the elements. I still however, wanted my midday treat, so instead of Starbucks we went right next door to our local grocer.

At first the manfriend and I were just going to pick up some chocolate to munch on, but then he had a great idea, let's make crepes. Yummy, we got all the supplies we needed and hurried back to the apartment. Back at our place, the manfriend put on a pot of Casi Ceilo coffee and I warmed up the pan to start our crepes.

When my crepe was ready and warm, I added the necessary fillers to make this crepe the best it could possibly be. I added Nutella, whipped cream and sprinkled some cinnamon on top. My guy did the same only he also added some crushed graham crackers to his.

These were just what we needed to cheer us up on a rainy day, and so easy to make. They were very filling and I had a hard time eating all of mine, so I let Kyle finish the rest. (Aren't I a nice girlfriend.)

I'm glad my guy came up with this idea, it was fun and a nice substitute for a missed trip to Starbucks.

Jennifer Aniston and Sephora Team up for St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

My friend Kate passed on some really cool information this morning regarding the lovely Jennifer Aniston and every girl's favorite store Sephora.

Jen is releasing a new perfume called "Jennifer Aniston", which I am sure smells amazing. The best part about this is that she has teamed up with Sephora to promote her fragrance and raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

If you go to the Sephora fan page on Facebook and "Like" it, $1 will be donated to St. Jude's! I already "Like'd" it,  now it's your turn. Below I included the link to the Sephora fan page, all you have to do is click "like" on the top of the page and voila $1 donation to a great cause.

Here's the Link --> Sephora's Fan Page

And this my friends is why I love Jen the way I do, not only is she a fox but she is a giver as well.

Book of the week.

I know it's Friday and I should of done this post on Monday, better late then never. This week's book of the week is a cult classic and from this book my favorite movie was made, Truman Capote's Breakfast at Tiffany's. There is so much to love about this classic book, I could go on and on.

Breakfast at Tiffany's is the story of Holly Golightly, a very mysterious New York socialite in the 1960's. You'll fall in love with Holly, her sense of style, her cat named Cat and her cleaver demeanor.

Capote's writing captures classic New York and most of all he really captures the feeling that you get when you enter Tiffany's on 57th and 5th Avenue. Tiffany's really is a magical place, I've been very lucky working right across the street from this famous establishment and being able to wander over there on my lunch hours, to dream and window shop.

You'll be able to read this book in a day and I'm telling you it is such a great classic. After you've read the book check out the movie staring fashion and movie icon Audrey Hepburn, she'll mesmerize you.

Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of those books you can read over and over again and never get tired of it, which is a testament to Truman Capote's writing.

After writing this post I feel I need a Tiffany's fix, I guess the website will do for now.

Happy Reading!

Quote of the day.

Hallelujah it's Friday and it's stopped raining! Yesterday it rained non stop here and it was just awful, I shouldn't complain though because rain is definitely better then snow. I hope everyone is ready to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend and the Superbowl, go Packers!

I received the greatest news yesterday my brother and his wife who are expecting their first child, found out that they will be having a baby boy, I am so excited for them and I cant wait to meet the little dude.

Today's quote is by Oscar Wilde. Oscar is a famous Irish writer and poet, who's produced some of the best writing of his generation. This quote is about how sometimes people are afraid to be themselves, one shouldn't mimic someone else's life. You should go out there and live the one life you were blessed with and do what you really love.

Enjoy.

Most people are other people.  Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.

Bathroom, you haven't grown on me. (Literally)

Greece is a great place, and I am really happy to say that for six months I have lived in this country. The people are nice, the food is amazing, some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, architecture so crazy and so old that you wonder how the hell did they make something like that back then, the birth of the marathon took place here, the history, the coffee is great. I could go on and on, I am definitely not a "hater" of this country by any means.

I am however not a "lover" of some things that I have had to get used to while living abroad, such as my early battles with hanging my clothes to dry, or the fact that everyone smokes. They smoke at my guys arena while they're playing, they smoke in the cafes, restaurants, gas stations (not so smart), I saw a man running and smoking (interesting), I swear babies learn to smoke before they walk here. When I come back to the apartment after dinner, I smell like I was clubbing in Manhattan circa 2003. I am also not a "lover" of the the feral cats waking me up every morning like clockwork.

But the MAIN thing I am not a "lover" of is our bathroom. I loathe this bathroom, I have nightmares about this bathroom, it haunts me! I guess you could say it is on the tiny side, I mean if you sit down on the toilet your knees are up against the door but hey some people might like that. The shower, yikes...the shower is a triangle that runs probably a foot wide and two feet long. Now I've never really seen a triangle shower and I don't think shower curtain manufactures really focus on the triangle shower market, so anytime you take a shower a flash flood warning pops up, everything gets wet.

I don't know if it's the color of the bathroom or the fact that there is probably less then an ounce of water in the toilet, the room freaking stinks. Yea, gross! We clean and we scrub and disinfect. I don't know if it's in my head but every time I go in there I smell smells that no woman ever wants to smell. I scrub the floor more times then I care to admit, one might think I have OCD but I still refuse to walk into that room barefoot. When my guy comes out of the bathroom wearing socks and sits on our bed, I shriek in horror. He then reminds me that I clean the bathroom every hour on the hour and that it can't possibly be dirty.

I'd rather use a Porta-Potty!

When I came home for Christmas, I was so happy to see every one and be back in New York. But what I was really happy about was using a nice clean bathroom, I actually cried when I entered my bathroom back home. My mom said the long flight probably made me a little delusional but I knew these were tears of joy towards this wonderful bathroom.

I believe I've developed a phobia of this bathroom in Greece, I time myself trying to spend as little time as possible in there. If I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, I hold it probably causing kidney damage because I hate the thought of having to go into that dreadful room. My cousin is coming out in a few weeks and my guy asked if I had the "bathroom talk" with her, I broke the news to her over Skype, warning her that this bathroom would definitely not be featured in Martha Stewart Living, she smiled but I could tell she was cringing inside.

When we found our new apartment the only picture I wanted to see was of the bathroom. No triangle shower, check. It's bigger then four feet, check. From the picture it didn't look like it smelled, ding, ding, ding we have a winner. Yes, I may sound crazy but a bathroom is a very personal space and if you can't feel comfortable in your own bathroom then it becomes a problem.

So that my friends is the main con being over here, having to deal with this tiny, putrid, horrific, makes me want to hurl, room we call our bathroom. Other then that I'm as happy as a clam.

Quote of the day.

Wahoo it's already Thursday! Hope everyone is feeling wonderful. It's rather rainy here in Athens today, but a little rain isn't going to stop me from being productive. I just started reading Sara Gruen's Water for Elephants, and I can't put it down so maybe I'll finish that on this rainy day.

Today's quote is from the movie, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I love this movie and it is also a wonderful book, check it out if you haven;t already. The quote is from a letter Benjamin Button writes to his daughter about how you have control over what to do with your life. How you want to live it, what to do to make yourself happy, it's all in your control and one hopes that you would choose to live the best life one could live for themselves.

Enjoy!

For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
